Her love of portraiture shows in her warm and charming portraits of children. Says the artist: "I have always been fascinated by the fact that there are no two children, nor two faces on this earth that are exactly alike. In each portrait, I strive to capture the essence, the beautiful and unique expression of each individual child." Her work in pastel has won many prizes and awards in national and local competitions. She is a member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico, Ozark Pastel Society, Portrait Society of America and former member of the Yucca Art Gallery in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her numerous paintings of the Native American children, as well as her commissioned portraits, hang in homes nationwide. After living in Albuquerque from 1986 to 2006, Rhoda has relocated in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she maintains a studio. "In contrast to the stark and beautiful light of the desert Southwest, the soft light of northwest Arkansas lends an almost mystical and ethereal atmosphere to the landscape. I look forward to exploring this aspect of nature, as well as portraying the beauty of local children and friends. Art is a never-ending adventure from which I never tire."
